23 track look at the output of Nashville born Freddie North who enjoyed a long career with the city’s Nashbro concern with releases on A-Bet and Mankind, the earlier outings of which are featured here. ‘Love To Hate’ is a good funker, as is the raw, pounding ‘(I’ve Got To) Hold Back’ while the tender ‘That’s How Much You Mean To Me’ is a lilting Southern beat ballad. The big production ‘My Whole World Ended The Moment You Left Me’ and the mellow ‘Cuss The Wind’ are also a highlights on this good expose of slightly forgotten artist who, vocally, would probably be most likened to Jerry Butler.
