From 1981 ‘What Cha Gonna Do For Me’ was Chaka Khan’s third solo album for Warners and is noted for the massive groove of the title track ‘What Cha Gonna Do For Me’ – still sounds so fresh. ‘I Know You I Live You’ is an infectious dancer and sounds like the blueprint that Incognito modelled their later sound on(!), ‘Any Old Sunday’ is a funky head nodder while ‘We Got Each Other’ is another monster disco/boogie dancefloor gem. ‘Heed The Warning’ and ‘Fate’ (listen out for that Stardust ‘Music Sounds Better’ sample) are also big sounding grooves. ESSENTIAL Chaka.
