Another great week for new releases and reissues this week. Kirk Whalum has a new album available on CD and there is also a stellar live album from Yussef Dayes recorded in the Malibu mountains.
Cymande’s classic album ‘Promised Heights’ gets a reissue on pink vinyl plus Hank Mobley’s ‘Workout’ and Stanley Turrentine’s ‘Blue Hour,’ the next two available in the Blue Note classic album series. In the jazz vein there is also two new reissues on Acoustic Sounds from Kenny Burrell and Hampton Hawes plus Brian Auger’s 1969 album ‘Brian and Jules’. Soul Jazz have put together a brilliant rare funk and soul from Florida compilation entitled ‘Miami Sound’ and Jazz Dispensary have ‘Freedom Sound’ a new compilation of deep jazz from Joe Henderson, Gary Bartz and others. Eddie Palmieri’s 1974 album ‘The Sun Of Latin Sound’ gets a welcome reissue on Charly, alongside Eddie Holman’s deep soul album ‘United’ and P.P Arnold’s ‘The First Lady of Immediate’. Also, top quality jazz albums originally released for RSD 2024 from Art Tatum and Sonny Rollins are now available on CD.
There are some great restocks back in too with albums from Foster Sylvers, Betty Wright, Beginning Of The End, and both Black Jazz albums from The Awakening.
