Recommended releases – 4th October 2013

This week we have two really good new soul albums from Snarky Puppy and Sandra St Victor. The annual Soul Togetherness compilation has become almost an institution and is one of the most highly anticipated albums of the year. Soul Togetherness 2013 brings together 15 Modern soul gems and will be an essential purchase. The Cd is now in stock,  pre-order the Vinyl for a couple of weeks time. Recommended release of the week – 20th September 2013

Its another good week for new releases with strong new soul albums from Foreign Exchange, Heston and Marc Staggers, Smooth Jazz from Jessy J and Lin Rountree and Jazz albums from Derrick Hodge and Allen Toussaint plus a European release for Jukka Eskola's Bossa Nova album. Recommended releases – 13th September 2103

The quantity of releases may be lower this week but there are some quality releases. Kentyah and Brian Jackson's tribute to Gil Scott Heron album will hopefully expose his genius to a younger audience but there is still plenty in it for long term fans , check Gregory Porter's version of 'Song of the Wind'. Recommended new releases – 6th September 2012

Its a great week for new releases with essential albums from Gregory Porter and Earth Wind and Fire and strong sets from Jaheim and Trombone Shorty. Also some good smooth jazz from Bob Baldwin , Spyro Gyra Patrick Yandall and Rob Tardik. Inobe was one of the leading ladies of the Organic Soul movement in the early to mid 00's,and has a great soulful voice. She returns after an 8 year hiatus with her 3rd album, 'Inobe' which is one of the best female 'acoustic ' soul albums in a while. Timotha Lanae's album Red is finally in stock and it's worth the wait as it is one of the best sassy jazzy soul albums that we have heard for a while. Marcell Russell has made one of the best Soul records that you will hear this year. His voice is in credibly soulful and he writes lyrics that reflect life experiences of love, relationships and heartbreak. Nothing really danceable, just pure unadulterated soul with a capital S.
