Incognito return with yet another strong album ‘Music Magic Ironic’ , featuring 17 uplifting songs. Bluey is accompanied by the usual great line up of the cream of British musicians and a variety of great singers including Maysa, Tony Momrelle and Joy Rose. Most of the songs are original compositions except for a lovely cover of Roy Ayers Jazz Funk classic ‘Running Away’ and Spats/ Ric Arenz blue eyed soul ‘Your Lovin Is Everwhere’. Joy Rose takes the lead on the upbeat ‘Its About Time’, shares ‘Running Away’ with Tony Momrelle and the Change influenced ‘Can’t Give Up On This Feeling’ with Imaani . Maysa stands out on ‘Lost Until I Want To Be Found’, another highlight. Tony Momrelle fronts the joyful mid tempo ‘Your Lovin Is Everywhere’ and the soulful ‘Late Night On The Subway’ . Zebulon Ellis adds his distinctive deep vocals to the laid back funky groove ‘Changes In Me’ and ‘Strangers Become Friends’ . Natalie Duncan leads on the catchy mid tempo ‘Like Fire In The Rain’ and more uptempo ‘Can’t Be A Fool’. There are also some good instrumentals like ‘Zahra Smiles’ and ‘Rain On A Hot Tin Roof’ which fully illustrate the quality of musicianship which is maintained throughout this whole excellently upbeat album, that is a testament to Bluey’s longevity over the past 45 years.
