Albums of The Week – 21st June 2013

Its a Great week for new releases and reissues this week, with quality and quantity.

Omar – The Man is a brilliant new album from the Uk’s leading Soul man and you can meet the man at Soul brother records tomorrow Saturday 22nd June 12-2 when he will be signing copies of the album. New in this week…

Great Soul releases this week from Tracy Hamlin, India Arie, and Andy Compton’s LAMP, along with the funky Polyrhythmics and smooth jazz of Kim Waters and Colin Watson make it a bumper week.
There are also strong reissues that include Love Committee , Inner life, Baker Harris Young and Tavares plus a brilliant unissued 70’s samba jazz album from Kenny Cox and rarity from Larry Nozero from the Detroit Strata label.

Charles Bradley made a big impact with his first album and his more soulful follow up ‘Victim Of Love’ is a class act. He extracts every inch of Soul from his raw gritty voice and is backed by the wonderful Daptone Band and great production. ‘Love Bug Blues’ and the driving beat ‘Confusion’ have that full on production.
