Lindsey Webster – Reasons | Album of the Day

Lindsey Webster returns with another strong album. Her music bridges Soul and Jazz very effectively. Lindsey’s beautiful voice is accompanied by some great musicians throughout, including long term associate Keith Slater on keyboards and T.O.P. percussionist Lenny Castro. The uptempo  ‘I Didn’t Mean It’ really swings along and unusually features Brian Culbertson on trumpet and trombone. ‘Love Of Your Life’ is a mid tempo song ft Nathan East on bass and vocals. ‘Wish You Well’ is a nice horn backed mid tempo. ‘I’m OK’ is a good mid tempo stepper ft Nicholas Payton on Trumpet. There are two versions of the catchy and rhythmic ‘Stay With Me’ the best of which is the Soul Jazz mix thankfully without the completely unnecessary rap which features Randy Brecker on Flugelhorn. Lindsey’s expressive voice really shines on the down tempo ‘The Way’ and ‘Twin Flame’ . Good album.
