It’s an amazing week for new releases, something for everyone to mark the beginning of Spring.
Bluey has joined up with many long time associates to create a retro Brit Funk album Str4ta – Aspects, Floating Points with Pharoah Sanders and the London Symphony orchestra and there is yet another new London based jazz group Vertaal with a strong album ‘Paradigm Shifting’, a very limited edition on coloured vinyl.
John Morales has remixed many of Teena Marie’s greatest songs as 2CD or 3LP tribute set. Tom Brock’s classic Barry White produced album is out again and Tower of Power celebrates 50 years of Funk and Soul live in Oakland. There is a great Stax Southern Soul CD compilation on Kent, and Directions in Music an interesting Jazz comp on BGP. We also have a few more copies of the Galactic Mutherland coloured vinyl album to replace the many warped copies we had previously, if you missed it before, grab a copy now before they are gone forever..
There are some great singles this week with a great 70’s Modern soul 45 from Douglas & Loreno, a new low rider soul 45 from Ron Preyer (of the Younghearts) and classic 12″ reissues from Lorraine Johnson, Starshine, Laurice Hudson and a rarity from Rare Pleasure.
