New Releases, Reissues and Restocks | Friday 16th May

There are some great new releases this week (the best for many weeks) and an amazing quantity of high quality Blue Note Japanese Cds. Don Glori has made two previous excellent albums but really steps up a gear for ‘Paper Can’t Wrap Fire’ his most sophisticated to date, a great album. Tanika Charles also makes a great new album ‘Reasons To Stay’ mixed by Kelly Finnegan and Jose James ‘1978 Revenge Of The Dragon’ continues his legacy and Brandon Woody makes his debut on Blue Note. Alfredo De La Fe superb ‘Alfredo’ including his classic ‘Too Hot To Trot’ and Coke get reissues on Mr Bongo, Sharon Jones ‘Naturally’ gets an extended 20th anniversary issue and there is a new Nighttime Lovers Vol 36 CD, plus Melvin Bliss heavily sampled ‘Synthetic Substitution’ gets a 45 issue.  There are two more in the Blue Note LP classic series plus 100 CDs,  and a re-issue of the rare funk album by The Invaders ‘Spacing Out’ so plenty to choose from this week.

Earlier this week we uploaded another addition to the South West Connection, this time with 50 soul and funk 45s part 2. We also did a brilliant round up of all brilliant reissued jazz funk 12″ singles featuring quite a few out of print titles here along with many classics.

We have had some brilliant albums in recently that have all been featured in our Album Of The Day. We published a fantastic selection of Jazz-Funk and Soul LPs a few months ago, which is part of a larger collection from earlier in the year titled Collection Of The North so make sure you check that out if you missed it!
Elsewhere, we have fantastic selection of original vinyl across the site. Click HERE to see a recent collection of jazz and jazz-funk LPs. A couple of weeks ago we put up a good batch 70s and 80s soul 45s which you can view here. This adds to the list of 60s soul 45s which you can see here if you missed, and we also added to our series of 12″ singles with part 15. We featured the first batch of 25 Original Vinyl Soul LPs from a large new collection that we will be purchasing over the next year, there are some great hard to find albums;  quite a few sold out immediately and we have added a few where there were second copies to the list.
As always we have a brilliant selection of original LPs and 12s that have been added to the site in recent weeks. This week we added some brilliant original soul LPs in addition to the batches of Philly Soul and Classic Soul we put up recently, plus two new batches of 12″ singles for funk, disco and house fans check them out here and here. This is part of a larger group of 12″ singles from a recent collection into one group which you can view here. There’s also two great selections of jazz-fusion albums all at £10 each, see them here and here.
