Best New Smooth Jazz releases 2012

2012 was a great year for Smooth Jazz releases, in fact there were more quality releases this year than in recent times. Gerald Albright and Norman Brown 24/7 was the absolute highlight of the year , a great album from these two giants of the genre, a must buy for those who like instrumental smooth grooves. Shilts, Paul Brown, Marc Antione , Euge Groove and newcomer Gabriel Mark Hassleback also recorded great albums.

Top releases of the week – 23rd November 2012

Quality is greater than Quantity this week with some great reissues from Modulations , Johnnie Taylor, Black Ivory , Delegation and a fabulous Bill Withers complete albums set. Manchester based saxophonist Nat Birchall has established himself as one of the leading lights of British Jazz and his new album 'World Without Form' will further enhance that. There's also a nice compilation of Christmas songs. 2012 has been a good year of New Jazz releases, with many great albums being released. Carmen Lundy 'Changes' is one of the best female vocal jazz albums for a long time, beautiful music to touch your mind and soul. The sheer class of this album in every department from lyrics, vocals, musicianship and sleeve design makes this our top jazz album for 2012. Best New Soul Releases of 2012

2012 was a good year for New Soul Releases with some great albums being released.  Big Brooklyn Red 'Answer The Call' was actually recorded in 2008 but only came out officially this year and is as killer album, Brooklyn's voice resonates soulfulness and whilst the great modern soul dancer 'Taking it Too Far' has been the most revered track but it is a quality album throughout and well deserving to be our Soul album of the year.
