There are some interesting new releases, reissues and restocks this week. Roy Ayers Ubiquity first album gets a 180gm reissue on Elemental who also have reissued two classic Wes Mongomery albums . The Chi-Lites 'A Lonely Man' which includes their versions of 'Inner City Blues' and 'Living In The Footsteps' has a welcome re-issue on Brunswick/ORG. There are some classic Blue Note reissues from Duke Pearson, Dexter Gordon plus Blue vinyl Herbie Hancock and Grant Green. Album Of The Day | Roy Ayers – Ubiquity

Roy Ayers Ubiquity's first Polydor album from 1970 includes gems like ‘Pretty Brown Skin’, Nat Adderley’s ‘Hummin’ and the psychedelic ‘The Fuzz’. Roy’s take on ‘Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head’ has a wicked walking jazzy bass line. The funky ‘Love’ has a groove that later would-be known as Jazz Funk, whilst ‘Can You Dig It’ is funkier still. Ubiquity’s members at the time included keyboard wizard Harry Whittaker., Edwin Birdsong on organ and vocals and Alphonse Mouzon on drums. New Releases, Reissues and Restocks | Friday 1st November

There are some nice reissues and restocks this week. There are two good compilations on BGP 'This is Retro Soul 1969-79' and 'This is the Breaks 1965-1975' which contain many in demand and classic tracks. There is also a nice comp of Isaac Hayes singles from 69-72, and the latest two Blue Note tone poet albums from Bobby Hutcherson and Cliff Jordan.
