Sunny and the Sunliners – Mr Brown Eyed Soul | Album of The Day

Sunny and The Sunliners have been making Latino Soul/Rhythm and Blues since the 60’s. ‘Mr Brown Eyed Soul Vol 2’ is a nice album of ballads, mid tempo dancers and a couple of funkier tunes all delivered with very soulful vocals, nice harmony backing and real instrumentation including horns. There are some nice covers of Billy Stewart’s ‘Sitting In The Park’, and Eddie Floyd’s ‘I’ve Never Found A Girl’ along with some original tracks. ‘I’m No Stranger’ sounds like an early 70’s Modern Soul crossover dancer, ‘If I Could See You Know’ is an uptempo  cut whilst ‘Come Back Baby’  is good funky soul with blaring horn riffs. ‘Should i Take You Home’ would have sat comfortably on Durand Jones ‘America’ album and ‘Give me Time’ and ‘Together’ are mid tempo floaters. Nice album of old school harmony soul on the Big Crown label.
