Masterplan Inc were a 7 piece Chicago soul and funk band founded in 1973 by Fredrick Douglas Shorts. Their style can be compared to the Eliminators. These 17 recordings were all unreleased at the time except for 3 tracks. ‘Something To Be Done’ is a monster horn backed funky modern soul soul dancer with great vocal harmonies, featured in both 45 and unreleased earlier recording fro Brunswick. ‘Back Up’ is a great simmerig funky soul track ft the fabulously soulful voice of Joann Addison. The upbeat funky soul ‘Bright Lights Big City’, mid tempo ‘Try it you’ll like it’ and 2 step ‘Special Love’ are also good tracks. Another great discovery from Jazzman records.
