Vibes player Johnny Lytle recorded ‘People & Love’ for the Milestone label in 1973. The album gets its title from two classic Soul tracks from the previous year; ‘Where Is The Love’ and ‘People Make the World Go Round’ which are covered here, the later in a twelve minute opus. The stand out cut is ‘Tawhid’, written and arranged by Daahoud Hadi who plays Electric Piano and Organ on the album. This is a heavy, groove-oriented track that builds through its seven minutes, with great interplay between the musicians. ‘Libra’ is the best of Lytle-written tracks, a nice groove with high intensity, and great playing. High quality analogue master 180gm pressing.
