Really good 2nd album by Newcastle’s finest ‘Rejuiced Phat Shake’ sees the vision of band leader, writer, arranger and guitarist Nick Pride enter diverse territories, straddling Funk, soul, jazz, big band, latin, disco, northern soul and more! With a host of guest vocalists taking the mic tracks like the flippant ‘Second Hand Wife’, the fast paced ‘Why Does My Man Got To Be So Tough’ and the gorgeous and set to be massive ‘Everything’s Better In The Summertime’ really standout. The emphasis is on songwriting backed with energetic, tight funky playing and for instrumental fans there’s the Nawlin’s vibe of ‘Soul Food Strut’ to keep you happy. The ender ‘Hex On My Soul’ is a bittersweet finale to a good solid set.
