Savoy’s Record Store Day reissue of Dizzy Gillespie’s ground breaking bebop album. The Champ cemented Gillespie’s position as the affable crown prince of bebop and features guests Milt Jackson & Percy Heath (who went on to later form the Modern Jazz Quartet), Stuff Smith, Bill Graham and some of the earliest sessions by John Coltrane.
