Top releases of the week – 20th December 2012

Just a few days before Christmas and there are still a few good quality new releases arriving. It’s good to hear Rance Allen's big deep soulful voice again,  and he has a good gospel soul album.  3 brave souls is a very interesting jazz fusion album. Top releases of the week – 30th November 2012

It's a good week for new releases this week. The Johnny Britt albums have finally arrived , although officially not released until 2013 you can grab one of the limited advance copies personally signed by Johnny, that we have in stock. These Cd's have the full packaging but have a hole in the Barcode. Veteran soul singer Charles Walker teams up with the Dynamites to make a great retro soul/funk album. Quality is greater than Quantity this week with some great reissues from Modulations , Johnnie Taylor, Black Ivory , Delegation and a fabulous Bill Withers complete albums set. Manchester based saxophonist Nat Birchall has established himself as one of the leading lights of British Jazz and his new album 'World Without Form' will further enhance that. One of the strongest New independent Soul albums of the year Bashiri Asad 'Living The Dream' is now available on a CD, and the incomparable Kaidi Tatham returns with his unique blend of Jazz Funk meets Broken Beat in his collaboration with Mensah, Lord and Ranks. Singer/songwriter Anthony David, has built up a strong fan base with his acoustic blend of soul fromAtlanta. His new album ‘Love Out Loud’ has a more urban feel to it , but tracks like ‘Movie Night’ have his distinctive feel. Top releases of the week – 2nd November 2012

This weeks new releases have a jazzier base. Finnish sax player Timo Lassy has made his third album, this one on Italy's Schema label and it has that 60's jazz retro feel to it. It’s the best week for new releases for a while. Former James Brown backing vocalist Martha High has teamed up with top British band Speedometer to make a cracking album ‘Soul Overdue’. Newban were the band that evolved into Atlantic Starr and their two albums from 1977 are presented together on one CD or a Double Vinyl which is an essential purchase.
