Albums and 45s of the week – 20th May 2013

Great week for releases with new albums from ZO, Carl Hudson (from by Soulpersona), Bob James with David Sanborn and S- Tone Inc amongst others. Fantastic reissues this week from Bobby Wilson, Tashan, All Spice, The Futures, Millie Jackson and more plus the 6 new Backbeats compilations make it a bumper week. There are also some nice 180gm Quality Blue Note vinyl reissues and some good 45 reissues incl as great 1971 track from Virgil Henry. Albums and 45s of the week – 10th May 2013

Great week for new releases this week with Mario Biondi 'Sun' Cd finally being available , plus a great Independent soul albums from Lisa Taylor and Sheree Brown, and some fine new jazz albums. The Brand New Heavies return with N'Dea Davenport with their best new album in years. Poogie Bell may not be an instantly recognisable name but he has played with Erykah Badu and many others and his album follows a similar direction to Robert Glasper's 'Black Radio'. Albums of the week – 5th April 2013

Only a few new releases this week, but they are all quality.  Boney James is back to form and features Raheem De Vaughn on his best album for years. The Tabu label back catalogue is very rich and the first three reissues on CD on the reactivated label SOS band 111, Brainstorm and Alexander O'Neal will bring back happy memories. Albums of the week – 28th March 2013

Charles Bradley burst into the scene with his debut album a couple of years back and now makes a great more soul oriented follow up with Victim of Love. The Relatives and Menahan Street band also follow that retro 60's/early 70's  oul/funk sound. Marc Evans and Groove Odyssey serve up some soulful house. Top releases of the week – 22nd March 2013

This must be one of the biggest weeks for new releases reissues and comps for a long time, with nearly 50 titles arriving. Bluey makes his solo debut with a good album, Doggett brothers and Heidi Vogel also have strong albums and the vinyl issues of elements of life and jose james are now in. Top releases of the week – 15th March 2013

It's another great week for new releases and reissues. Elements of Life 'Eclipse' takes pride of place an amazing uplifting Double CD to bring some warmth into your life. August Heat from Louisiana have made a great traditional Southern Soul albums with real instruments, William Hart is in fine voice on Adrian Younge presents the Delfonics and our own Terri Walker appears as part of Lady.
