Recommended new releases of the week – 23rd August 2013

Inobe was one of the leading ladies of the Organic Soul movement in the early to mid 00's,and has a great soulful voice. She returns after an 8 year hiatus with her 3rd album, 'Inobe' which is one of the best female 'acoustic ' soul albums in a while. Jeff Lorber makes another good fusion album showing his keyboard wizardry, and there is a good contemporary soul and Jazz compilation 'Beach Club' The four Roy Ayers classic re-issue CDs are in stock at last 'Let's Do It', 'Fever', 'No Stranger to love' and 'Feeling good' are all good jazz-funk albums...

Recommended albums of the week – 16th August 2013

Timotha Lanae's album Red is finally in stock and it's worth the wait as it is one of the best sassy jazzy soul albums that we have heard for a while. The Japanese are making some of the best Jazz music at the moment and this week there are new albums from Tres-Men, Hara Nobuo, Indigo Jam Unit plus the first Jazz Collective album is back in stock. Marcell Russell has made one of the best Soul records that you will hear this year. His voice is in credibly soulful and he writes lyrics that reflect life experiences of love, relationships and heartbreak. Nothing really danceable, just pure unadulterated soul with a capital S. The UK's own Don-E makes what is probably his best album to date with Little Star. Recommended albums and 45s of the week – July 19th

Robin McKelle has made a really nice album fusing soul and jazz elements and features Gregory Porter, which is on of the highlights this week., that you won't want to miss. Kon (of Kon and Amir fame) has a nu-disco/boogie album that should keep your feet moving, available on CD and limited Coloured Double Vinyl, plus UK artist Da Paul has made an interesting soul/jazz album. Albums and 45s of the week – 12th July 2013

George Duke returns with his best album in a decade or more with 'Dreamweaver' which includes one of the last tracks that Teena Marie recorded. Its a good week for smooth jazz with albums from Andrew Neu amongst others, and left field soul with Deborah Bond backing singer Kenny Wesley and Mayer Hawthorne. There are good re-issues from Bar-Kays, Chi-lites, Phyllis Hyman and other ladies, along with Nicola Conte's latest installment of his excellent Viagem series. Its another great week for quality releases and reissues. Booker T has made an excellent contemporary soul album ft Anthony Hamilton and other guests.
