Natasha Watts ‘Music Is My Life’ album is available on a very limited edition Cd as well as Lp from tomorrow Sat 30th September when Natasha will be in store signing copies from 1pm. I hope that many of you will be able to join us to meet her, there’s always a good vibe when Natasha visits the store. There are other strong new albums this week from Kelly Finnigan produced The Sextones whose album ‘Love Can’t Be Borrowed’ is a nice retro soul album and Melbourne based Spiritual Jazz and Fusion band Menagerie whose latest album ‘The Shores Of Infinity’ is really strong.
There are some great Soul and Jazz Funk reissues this week. Parliament ‘Mothership Connection’ is one of the all time great Funk/P-Funk albums and it gets a long overdue high quality vinyl reissue on BGP. From a warehouse find we have some copies of Curtis Mayfield’s classic ‘Superfly’ deluxe 2LP version with extra tracks on both Black and Orange vinyl, and also his ‘There’s No Place Like America Today’. Gloria Weems made a rare boogie album in 1983 produced by Chris Palmer of Groove Records but only originally released in South Africa, now reissued on Freestyle. We are also back in stock of Marva Whitney classic ‘It’s my Thing’ 2LP version on Soul Brother, and have a few copies of Northern Soul Anthems 2LP swt on Demon at a reduced price whilst stocks last.
Danny Ward & Reality recorded a live funky jazz album in 1977 now released for the first time by Jazz Room records, and Guitarist Jack Wilkins rare ‘Windows’ Mainstream album is reissued on We Want Sounds, and we are back in stock of two classic albums from Azymuth, their classic ‘Light As A Feather’ and ‘Azimuth’, plus Charles Mingus epic ‘Blues And Roots’.
The six new 45’s on the Soul Brother label sound amazing and have been very well received. There is some great rare soul music on these, available as regular dinked or full centre DJ Copies, check them out here.
