New Releases
Christian Scott releases the third instalment of his Jazz Centennial Trilogy ‘Emancipation Procrastination’ his most accessible to date. It is a remarkable achievement to record and release three new albums in one year , especially so in the 2000’s. This a good deep jazz album to really get into.
Eric Roberson also completes his Trilogy of EP’s with ‘Fire’, lyrically the most satisfying record he has recorded for a long time. Don-E also completes his third Rare groove EPs with the ‘Lost Tapes’. Jordan Rakei impressed us with Cloak last year and returns with ‘Wallflower’ a strong album. Nicole Willis teams up with UMO Jazz orchestra with another strong album ‘My name is Nicole Willis’.
There is a good compilation from the Mainstream label ‘Innerpeace- Rare Spiritual Funk and Jazz Gems’ on CD and Double LP.
James Mason ‘Sweet Power Collection’ is a 7″ double pack featuring the 7″ version of his classic ‘Sweet Power Your Embrace’. This limited edition single is already selling fast , so get in quick to secure your copy before they all go.
Soul Junction have a nice 45 with two takes of the same song ‘Win all your Love’ from the Cooperettes and an unreleased version by The Toppiks. There is a good reissue 12″ from tenderness and we have a few more copies of the Funkadelic vs Moodyman 12″.

Pre-order for Gregory Porter due next week, and just added Amp Fiddler due in a couple of weeks which is also likely to be very limited. Also the long awaited Disco Soul Gold album with Nigel Lowis mixes is due next week.

Christian Scott is just latest in a string of great titles issued on the Ropeadope label. The label is fast becoming the most important label for new Jazz and Soul releases. This year they have issued top class albums from The Polyseeds, Trevor Lawrence Jr, Nicholas Payton, Michon Young, Chantae Cann, Nate Smith, Maurice Brown amongst many others.
