New Releases
What a year we are having for New Jazz records. For the third consecutive week we have a new Jazz album that will be amongst the Best New Jazz albums of the year. Following Theo Croker CD and Miles Davis/Robert Glasper Cd and LP, newcomer Shola Adisa Farrar has made an amazing album steeped in jazz tradition but sounding very contemporary, beautiful spiritually uplifting music, check her imaginative Bossa take on ‘Feeling Good’ and the rest of this outstanding album.
Nick Pride & The Pimptones and The Tibbs have new retro soul /funk albums available on Cd and LP. Matthew Halsall ‘on the Gwo’ was released five years ago and is now extended with two extra tracks, and also released on Vinyl for the first time.
There is a great Spiritual jazz compilation ‘Peace Chant’ available as a Cd or on two individual LP’s. Oumou Sangare hails from Mali and her album ‘Moussolou’ is very seductive and enchanting and well worth checking out.
The first batch of the Elemental/Universal CD’s are arriving tomorrow, there are some classic early 70’s Motown albums from Eddie Kendricks, The Four Tops and Smokey Robinson, plus a Charles Stepney produced Ramsey Lewis album presented in imitation mini LP paper sleeves. More titles to come in a couple of weeks.
The James Brown Revue live at the Apollo 1972 Double LP which was due for Record Store Day is now available back in stock , these sold very fast last time, so if you would like a copy please grab one now. There is a nice 12″ from Los Charly’s orchestra ready for summer when/’if it arrives and a great reissue 45 from Hiram and Direct with a dancer flipped with a 2-stepper.

Please accept our apologies for delays in shipping the Louie Vega album getting accurate information on time scales on both Cds and Lp’s has been difficult as it is constantly changing from the suppliers. We now understand the Cds will be in next week and Lp’s vol 1 on 17th June.
