New releases and pre-orders 18th September 2020

Wow ! what a week for new releases. There’s something for everyone this bumper week.
For new releases check out the very limited edition 12″ single from the amazing Matthew Halsall with new material that will not be released on any other format.
Jordan Rakei has made a great version of Donald Byrd Wind Parade on a 45 from the forthcoming (in Oct) Blue Note reimagined album. Taruya Kuroda has another good album out this time on First Word on LP only. Matt Johnson (of Jamiroquai) has a solo album of contemporaryJazz- Funk.
Butcher Brown step up onto the Concord label and release #KingButch possibly their most accessible album to date Cd out now Lp on pre-order. Jazz is Dead 3 featuring Marcus Valle is now in on CD , Lp on pre-order. Rymden have another strong album of Scandinvian jazz on Jazzland.
For reissue there is A cellarful of Motown vol 5 featuring some real obscurities and Spiritual Jazz 12: Impulse maintains the high standards of the series. There is an unreleased Thelonius Monk album and a 60th anniversary Deluxe edition of John Coltrane ‘Giant Steps’ both on CD and LP.
Billy Brooks ‘Window of my mind’ album featuring the much sampled ‘Fourty Days’ gets a reissue on both formats. Walter Bishop Black Jazz album, ‘Coral Keys’ is now out on vinyl and Ohio Players ‘Pleasure’ a welcome vinyl reissue.
There are some great 45’s with Latin Revolution 2 , Isley Brothers and Brenda Holloway, Carolyn Crawford, John Edwards and Denise & Abe amongsts the highlights.
