Sad to hear about the passing of Bernard Wright who passed away at the age of 58. He was a masterful pianist and a member of the original Jamaica Katz, who alongside the likes of Tom Browne, Marcus Miller, Lenny White and Don Blackman—even under the tutelege of Weldon Irvine—would record some game changing albums on Arista GRP. Produced by Dave Grusin and Larry Rosen, “Nard” was his finest outing, a mixture of raw Jazz-Funk and pulsating grooves—Spinnin notably becoming a low-key anthem after being rediscovered and sampled by Skee-Lo on I Wish—an album that he recorded at 17 years of age. We have stock of a 2 in 1 CD of Nard and Funky Beat available for a limited period – don’t miss out.
We will be closed next Thursday 2nd and Friday 3rd for the Jubilee bank holiday but open on Saturday 4th June.
Have a great weekend
Laurence
