New Releases and Pre Orders, Friday 8th July

It’s a bumper week for new releases with something for everybody this week. Bluesoulten have released what is likely to be one of the New Soul CD albums of the year ‘It’s Worth It’. We are delighted to present Wood brass and Steel ‘Uncovered – The Lost Astroscope recordings 1973’ on our own label. Recorded in 1973 this is the first vinyl release of this album which launched the career of the All Platinum/Sugarhill label band who went on to play on all all the Sugarhill recordings and includes the original version of ‘It’s A new Day’ which they later recorded in the year with the Skullsnaps. Anthony Hamilton and Ledisi have vinyl releases of their good albums from last year. Terrace Martin teams up with Glasper and Washington for ‘Dinner Party – Desert’ and Lettuce funky Jazz album is also out on vinyl. There are two good 45’s this week from the forthcoming Blue Note Reimagined vol 2 Ego Ella May and Theon Cross have a good double sider of new jazz. Touch Of Class has a great double sider of classic 70’s Soul on Will’s new label.

Kent has a good vinyl compilation ‘Atlanta Soul Artistry’ and art Pepper another classic jazz album on the Craft/Acoustic Sounds series. The Congos classic roots reggae album has a remastered Lp version, and there are a couple from Mr Bongo.
There are a few nice CD releases this week from Ace and a Shakatak CD.
We are back in stock of many long out of print classic Soul, Jazz and Jazz-Funk albums including classics from Johnny Hammond, Logg, Impressions, Willie Hutch, Herbie Hancock and more
The new 45’s on Soul Brother and Expansion will now be here next wednesday 13th July. If you haven’t already pre-ordered please do so before then to be amongst the first to receive these brilliant titles.  Tania Maria superb classic ‘Come With Me’, and Barbara Lynn super rare ‘Mellow Feeling’ , and all three from Expansion all available as regular dinked 45s or solid centre DJ Copies, the Barbara single has a limited edition of 100 numbered full centre copies.
