New Releases and Reissues | Friday 8th September

Jalen Ngonda has made One of the Soul albums of the year, an excellent retro soul album heavily influenced by Marvin Gaye and one of the most soulful albums ever recorded on the Daptone label.

Yussef Dayes makes his debut solo album ‘Black Classical Music’ a superb full on contemporary London Jazz album with a nod to Spiritual jazz a la Carlos Garnett . Matthew Halsall is firmly established as one of the UK’s leading contemporary jazz artists and his new set ‘An Ever Changing View’ will please his fans.
Euge Groove keeps the flag flying for Smooth Jazz with another good album ‘Comfort Zone’ and Anthony David has a best of Cd that includes some new previously unreleased duets with Algebra Blessett. Brian Auger has a 2CD/3LP retrospective set and Chanel One an excellent Dub compilation. Instant Funk’s albums for both TSOP and Salsoul are collected in  the albums 1976-1983.
Congratulations to Ezra Collective for winning the Mercury prize for their superb ‘Where Im Meant To Be’ album which we have in stock on CD, the LP is due back next month. Some of you may remember that we had their ‘Juan Pablo’ CD long before they had distribution , let alone a label when their tour manager used to hand deliver them to the store!
