Top releases of the week – 2nd November 2012

This weeks new releases have a jazzier base. Finnish sax player Timo Lassy has made his third album, this one on Italy's Schema label and it has that 60's jazz retro feel to it. George Anderson is the bass player from Shakatak and his second album has that easy going jazz funk sound , but with some vocals cuts one from the very Luther sounding Fil Straughan. James Brown – Godfather of Soul

James Brown was one of the main artists that got us into soul music in the first place in the late 60’s/early 70’s, he was also the catalyst of the rare groove scene in the mid to late 80’s, and his music has formed the basis of 100’s of hip hop tracks.
