Phyllis Hyman – The Essential Phyllis Hyman

Phyllis Hyman possessed one of the most distinctive and greatest Female Soul voices of all time. During the 70's and 80's and early 90's she recorded many great tracks, most of which are included in this 2LP Essential Phyllis Hyman vinyl compilation. Masterpieces of Modern Soul – Volume 6

Kent's excellent Masterpieces of Modern Soul series reaches volume 6. It includes 22 mainly uptempo dancers recorded between 1969 and 1982 and 14 previously unreleased tracks from the golden era of Soul music. Janice 'Keep On Smiling' from '75 is a storming string laden dancer. From the same year Three Pieces 'If Only I Could Prove To You' is a lovely mid tempo floater. The Soul Messengers have been performing in the North East of England for decades but have only recently recorded their first album.
