New releases

There are some strong new releases this week. Vick Lavender may not be a name that you are too familiar with, but that’s about to change as his excellent new album ‘The Architect’ is probably the best Soulful house album we have had for sometime. He mixes elements of Soul, Jazz and Soulful house grooves together that brings Josh Milan to mind. Soulpersona come up with another good new album featuring Princess Freesia and Jocelyn Brown. Reel People music score again with he Layabouts ft Portia Monique, Gina Carey makes her best album in a while with the funky ‘The Soul singer’ and Brian Simpson’s ‘Out of a dream’ is smooth jazz of the highest class.

Reissues

Good re-issue CD’s from The Manhattans featuring un-issued cuts, Wyndchymes and several New Orleans soul artist comps from the Charly label. The Mike Maurro mixes 3CD set on Harmless brings some classic 70’s tracks up to date with new remixes.
