Top releases of the week – 22nd February 2013

New Releases

It’s another great week for new releases and reissues.  Bilal has returned to his Soul roots and made an interesting album. Seravince is a great slightly left field jazz album in the style of Kaidi Tatham. Alice Russell and Terri Lyne Carrington have come up with the goods again,  and on the smooth side of jazz Paul Hardcastle and Marion Meadows will help you chill out. Nat Birchall ‘s debut album ‘Sixth Sense is excellent  and available to wide audience in limited quantities.

Reissues and comps

Loads of great reissues this including Cameo ‘Knights of The Sound table’ on Soul Brother Records,  2 Dayton 2 on 1’s (Dayton/Cutie Pie and Hot Fun/Feel The Music) the 40th Anniversary edition of the O’Jays classic ‘ Ship Ahoy’, Delegation and Atlantic Starr sets.  There are also two classic Syl Johnson albums (Is It Because I’m Black and Dresses Too  Short) on good quality vinyl from Numero 6 and  reissue 45’s from Outta Sight.
