Warehouse find on the soul brother label
First time on CD for this rare 1969 album augmented by six non album singles to give the complete James brown productions of Hank. The funkier album tracks ‘How You Gonna Get Respect’ , ‘With Your Sweet Lovin Self’, ‘Unwind Yourself’ , ‘Come on Wit It’ and ‘Funky Soul Train are typical JB late 60’s grooves backed by The Dapps. The singles ‘Butter Your Popcorn’ , ‘Blackenized’ a brilliant jazzy soul floater with social commentary lyrics, ‘Annie Had A baby’ , ‘Finger Poppin Time’ and his rare groove classic ‘From The Love Side’. Includes the alternative take 7″ version of ‘Gonna Get Respect’, the funky ‘You’re So Sexy’ and the ballads ‘Teardrops on Your Letter’ , ‘Slip Away’ ,’ Which Way Should I Turn’ ‘Are You Lonely Tonight’ and ‘Woman is a Man’s Best Friend’ showing off Hank’s bluesy soulful vocals. The remastering from the original tapes makes these songs sound incredibly fresh. A must for all JB and Funk fans.
