Top releases of the week – 9th November 2012

Singer/songwriter Anthony David, has built up a strong fan base with his acoustic blend of soul fromAtlanta. His new album ‘Love Out Loud’ has a more urban feel to it , but tracks like ‘Movie Night’ have his distinctive feel. Flautist/Singer Ragan Whiteside’s second album ‘Evolve’ has some really nice vocal soul tracks and good jazz funk instrumentals. Top releases of the week – 2nd November 2012

This weeks new releases have a jazzier base. Finnish sax player Timo Lassy has made his third album, this one on Italy's Schema label and it has that 60's jazz retro feel to it. George Anderson is the bass player from Shakatak and his second album has that easy going jazz funk sound , but with some vocals cuts one from the very Luther sounding Fil Straughan. Top releases of the week – 26 Oct 2012

It’s the best week for new releases for a while. Former James Brown backing vocalist Martha High has teamed up with top British band Speedometer to make a cracking album ‘Soul Overdue’. Newban were the band that evolved into Atlantic Starr and their two albums from 1977 are presented together on one CD or a Double Vinyl which is an essential purchase. There are also good new releases from Cody Chestnutt, Lakecia Benjamin and a nice jazz covers of Curtis songs from Jazz Soul Seven.
