There are some really good albums this week. Boney James returns with a really nice quality smooth jazz album that features the voice of Stokely on a good soul cut. Ty Causey is Mr Consistent and his Cause and effect album will delight his fans , nice quality mid tempo soul.
Confunkshun and Orgone have good funky soul albums and Tortured Soul a good soulful house set. 80’s Boogie man J W McGee makes his first album in nearly 30 years.
Joyce Elaine Yuille excellent welcome to my world album gets a vinyl release, and on the same Schema label Alex Puddu teams up with Joe Bataan for a good Latin Jazz/Soul album Soul Tiger. Veteran keyboardist Harold Mabern features many vocalists including Gregory Porter on his Afro Blue set, and Kyle Eastwood has a nice album in Timepieces.
The ever popular 80’s series Nighttime Lovers reaches volume 23 and there is a good album featuring Los Angeles Soul from the Kent and Modern labels. Gil Scott Heron’s debut Flying Dutchman set ‘A New Black Poet’ makes a welcome Cd reissue.
