Friday 18th August – New Releases and Reissues

We are delighted that our long awaited 45 reissue of Crystal Clear ‘Stay With Me’ has finally arrived, it is a great rare groove 2-stepper that is also played on the modern soul scene. This completes our new series of six great very rare Soul records on 45s. You can see the complete set here, all available as regular dinked or limited edition full centre DJ Copies, there is some great 70’s Soul music across these 45s.

There are some great new Soul and Jazz releases this week. Output Input have produced one of the best soul albums of the year ‘Foward Motion’ that will appeal to lovers of Expansion’s Luxury Soul and Soul Togetherness series. Dinner Party are a supergroup featuring Robert Glasper, Terrace martin, Kamasi Washington plus guest vocalists and their new album ‘Enigmatic Society’ is a really nice R&B/Soul album with jazzy elements. Bettye Lavette’s great new album is now also available on LP as well as CD. Golden Mean is the latest group to have an album on Jazz Refreshed, contemporary London Jazz with a slight Prog rock feel in places. Carmen Lundy’s superb album ‘Fade To Black’ is available for a short time at a reduced price whilst stocks last.
Gil Scott Heron and his Amnesia Express has an unreleased live album from 1983, I had the privilege of seeing him live that year in London playing pretty much the same set, awesome!
Nat Adderley mid 70’s fusion/Jazz classic ‘Dont Look Back’ is now out on CD and LP, and there are a couple of Japanese Reissues on CD in very limited quantities.
We are also back in stock of classic albums from Willie Hutch and Fatback Band on Lp and Georgie B CDs.

We are saddened to learn of the passing of Philly Soul legend Bobbi Eli at the age of 77. Bobbi wrote, produced and played Guitar on many of the greatest tracks recorded in the City of Brotherly Love. You never know who you are going to bump into at the Soul Brother Records store. Last Friday we had ITV News at Ten filming Laurence for their 50 years of hip-hop feature and this week our good friend and customer Jay Blades was filling up his record boxes with some great rare grooves!
