Galactic Mutherland – A Muther’s Pearl | Album of the day 6th January 2020

Originally a CD only release from 2004, sixteen years later this now highly sought after album is finally available on a double purple vinyl release in very limited quantities (200 copies) The pulsating 80s throwback dancer ‘Keep On Going’ kicks things off in retro style while the slower tempo of ‘Say the Same’ has a late 90s feel. The soulful R&B ‘Cheatin’ On Me’ takes us back to the early Y2k UK scene, the funky edged Bernard Wright penned stepper ‘Destiny’ offers yet more shade while the mid tempo modern ‘I Can Tell’ is another highlight. Lead vocal duties are shared between Chantel Brown, Debbie Dazire O, Fay Jones, Lurine Cato, Tiffany Pearson with Barry Dee at the controls. The sumptuous modern soul ‘Hold U Down’ and the summery ‘You’ll never Find A Love As Good As Mine’ are yet more highlights on a consistently high quality album. The set also includes three alternate mixes of a choice of cuts from the set. Superb album that has stood the test of time and will sink into collections fast. Grab one!
