New arrivals- 26th February 2016

Martha Ren and The Groovelets have made a very nice retro sounding Funk and Soul album which has that late 60’s Marva Whitney style sound. Kenya Soulsinger has a nice R&B/Seductive soul album and Brian McKnight makes his debut on his own label.Logan Richardson has a good jazz album in the style of Robert Glasper’s jazzier records and Nicole Conte teams up with … in ‘Natural’. Joyce Elaine Yuille has a second part of her ‘Welcome to my world’ album released  on vinyl, including an exclusive Gerardo Frisina remix of ‘Chaos’. .

There are two really good CD compilations from Ace with ‘Harmony of the soul vocal groups 1962-1977’ featuring some lovely obsure Group harmony ballads whilst ‘Things got to get better’ features some good Street funk and jazz grooves.

The vinyl LP reissues include The JB’s, Eddie Hazel George Duke and a really interesting rare soul and gospel album ‘The Peoples Workshop – Houston talent expo’. There are some great singles this week, 12″ from Joey Negro, Rim& Kasa remix and a reissue of the boogie classic from Clyde Alexander and Sanction. 45’s include a great modern soul gem from Scott Cunningham Band, 3 from the Athens of the North label, 3 from Expansion and a good 80’s boogie track from Whole Truth.

Pre-order for next week some great albums from King, Three Degrees, Bill Laurence, and a new one from Esperanza Spalding plus Joey Negro’s remixed with love vol 2 and an interesting comp on BBE compiled by Volcov. Also watch out for news of the new Louie Vega CD in the next few days
