New arrivals – 8th April 2016

New releases

There are some great new releases this week. Terrace Martin has produced a superb contemporary sounding Jazz and Soul album which has more than a nod to the old school it features Lalah Hathaway, Perri Sisters and The Emotions amongst others. Collective Peace from Detroit have another great Jazz/Soul album, featuring Dwele and Amp Fiddler. Deep Street Soul give us a good blast of Australian Funk/Soul, and Carl Hudson makes a return with Pixel Planet on LP, and Nuf Said are the latest addition to the Ropeadope label.

Reissues

There are some fantastic reissues this week. ‘This is Eleanore Mills’ is a superb 70’s Soul album recorded for Sylvia Robinson’s All Platinum label. The CD of this essential album is now in, the LP is released for RSD next saturday.
There are 3 new comps from Ace including an amazing CD of unreleased Motown gems ‘One track mind’.
There are plenty of good 45 reissues including Bill Harris ‘Am I cold Am I Hot’, Patti Jo ‘Ain’t no love lost’ and many other good titles

Back In Stock

We are now back in stock of Chantae Cann, Claffy, King and Tacuma Bradley’s Unity Band and the Joey Negro Remixed with love vol 2 CD is due back either today or monday.

Pre-orders

Pre-order for next week for Garland Green and McCrei 45’s and a new Tristan album.Louie Vega L:p is now due 22nd April and the CD is also now out of stock awaiting a repress.

Record Store Day 2016

I hope that you can join us next Saturday 16th April for Record Store Day. We will be open at 8am and plan to stock all the exclusive Soul, Funk, Jazz, Blues and Reggae releases plus more. You can see some of the expected titles here , more to be loaded early next week. Natasha Watts and Tony Momrelle will also be here signing and Tony will be performing with a band at the nearby Beer Boutique.

New T-Shirt Range

We are also proud to announce a new range of Soul Brother 25 T-Shirts launching on RSD , and we also have nice Philadelphia International and Blue Stax shirts arriving next week which also look great.

R.I.P – Leon Haywood and Gato Barbieri

We are sad to learn of the passing of the firery Argentine sax player Gato Barbieri and soul singer and producer Leon Haywood. Malcolm has written some apt tributes- click the artist’s names to read.
