2016 is turning out to be another Vintage year for Jazz, this week we have Robert Glasper and Miles Davis ‘Everythings Beautiful’ an amazing tribute to the great man ft Erykah Badu, Bilal, Ledisi, Stevie Wonder , Haitus Kaiyote and many others. Jackie Gage is a new name to us and her debut Siren Songs is a beautiful Vocal jazz album. Manchester group Mammal Hands team up with the Gondwana Orchestra for another great set. Sultans Swing is really good contemporary Jazz fusion album (on vinyl only) featuring multi instrumentalist Tom Funk who visited Soul Brother earlier in the week, see the pictures here. Frank Catalano teams up with Jimmy Chamberlin and David Sanborn for a good Organ jazz album. The Jazz Invaders return with their most accessible album to date which has a 70’s jazz funk feel. Cuban keyboardist Axel Tosca Lauguart is creating a bit of stir (came to the UK recently with Louie Vega)and his album is well worth a listen.
