New releases 9th March 2018

Tatiana Lady May Mayfield possesses one of the best voices in contemporary Soul/Jazz music.  After 6 years she returns with ‘The Next Chapter’ a wonderful set which could well be amongst the best albums of the year of 2018, check out the clips. Marion Meadows returns with a strong set featuring many guest vocalists.

Canadian Soul/Jazz singer Elise Legrow has made an interesting albums covering Chess recordings ‘Playing Chess’ produced by Betty Wright, check her take on ‘Rescue Me’.
Seun Kuti continues his fathers legacy and features Fela’s Egypt 80 band on ‘Black Times’ a strong Afro-beat album, and Brownswood compilation ‘We out Here’ is now in on Vinyl. Joey Negro ‘Produced with love; Cd is now back in stock for those of you who missed out on it.
The Mighty MFSB recordings are put together on a double CD Definitive Collection
and there are 3 great limited edition Reggae Vinyl LP’s this week.
Expansion have some nice reissue 45’s and there are two great tracks from the recent James Hunter Six album on 45.

Another major date for your diary is Sat 21st April Record Store Day. There are some great Soul, Funk , Jazz and Reggae releases for RSD this year. We have compiled a list of them here. We will aim to stock the majority of the titles on this list. For those with broader tastes you can view the full list here. We look forward to seeing many of you on the day, there is always a great atmosphere at Soul Brother on RSD.


We have 2 great releases for RSD on the Soul Brother label. Jarrod Lawson’s incredible debut album from 2014 is being issued on vinyl for the first time,  as a 180gm Double LP in a gatefold sleeve. This is an essential RSD release for Soul and jazz fans. You can see the video here with snippets of the album.
We are also releasing Mary Clark’s elusive ‘You Put Your Hold on Me’ and ‘Take Me I’m Yours’ on a hand numbered 45, two great tracks.

Our Wants List 4 Rare groove compilation has been gaining some great feedback from customers and press reviews, it is probably the best in the series so far. You can watch the video here to hear the tracks.
