Pyjaen return with their second album on Deep Matter and it bridges New London Jazz with Spoken Word, another strong album. The Jazz Defenders also make their second album on Haggis Records, it has some 50’s/60’s style Jazz along with more contemporary arrangements. Uk Jazz/Neo-Soul singer Judi Jackson has a nice new album on a major label. There are some great reissue vinyl albums this week. Irma Thomas’ lost Cotillion album gets a first vinyl issue on Light Blue Vinyl, great early 70s Southern Soul. Grant Green’s classic ‘The Latin Bit’ is the latest Blue Note Tone Poet release. There are two Blue Note Classic series Analogue mastered releases from Bud Powell and Milt Jackson, and Acoustic sounds have the Duke Ellington and John Coltrane album. Also there are rare Jazz albums from William D Fischer and Wayne Powell Octet.
Outta Sight released two classic Northern Soul 45’s available as regular dinked copies or limited edition DJ Copy full centre releases. Dave Lee has Vol 19 of his Attack The Dancefloor Ep 12″ series.
Son House has an unreleased Blues album and there are three Reggae/Dub releases on the Studio 16 label delivered by hand from Winston Edwards.
