Norman Brown returns with another good Smooth Jazz album on Shanachie. Chelsea Carmichael is the latest New London Jazz artist to make an album, her limited edition LP will appeal to those who like Shabaka Hutchins, Sons of Kemet/Comet is Coming etc. Jackie MCLean ‘Tippin the Scales’ is the latest Blue Note Tone Poet LP and Gregory Porter’s classic debut album ‘Water’ is reissued on vinyl on Blue Note. The two early Jose Bertrami albums are now out on vinyl, and there is a Chi-Lites Best of. We are back in stock of some great albums this week ; ‘These Memories’, a brilliant Modern soul comp on Outta Sight, Stevie Wonder’s classic ‘Songs In the Key Of Life’, Kimiko Kasai’s ‘Butterfly’ and Ian Carr’s ‘Belladona’.
Soul Brother Soundsystem (Will Fox) Vs JazzRoom Records (Paul Murphy), Sunday 10th April at the Half Moon Pub – Last Call!
This Sunday the 10th of April we’ll be welcoming the legendary London Jazz DJ Paul Murphy down to our regular slot at the Half Moon in Putney from 13:00-19:00 for a strictly vinyl DJ set, accompanied with live percussion from Will. Should be great to have Paul down, a legend of the London DJ scene and a fine selector who ran the storied Jazz Room at the Electric Ballroom back in the 1980’s as well as residencies at the WAG club, The Horshoe (where he brought acts such as Alphonse Mouzon, Tania Maria and Jay Hoggard to the UK for the first time). His imprint JazzRoom records has been reissuing some great stuff and we’re looking forward to hearing some of the intended future reissues in their original form on the day. Free entry, find a link to the Half Moon Website HERE where you can book seating.
