New Releases

Its a great week for jazz releases. Trumpeter Theo Croker impressed on his debut ‘Afrophysicist’ a couple of years ago and consolidates his position as a leading talent with another great album ‘Escape Velocity’ with his band Dark Funk. Tomoyoshi Nakamura Quartet (of the Japanese band Native) have made a really nice Jazz dance album which is now in stock. Jack DeJohnette and Rene Marie also have new Jazz albums plus Nat Birchall’s first album ‘Sixth Sense’ is back in stock and fellow Manchurian Matthew Halsall’s seminal ‘On The Go’ is expanded and available on a Double Lp for the first time. There are many jazz reissue Cds and Lp’s see below.

On the new Soul side Corrine Bailey Rae’s album is now in stock on Vinyl, Ryle ‘Never let You go’ 45 is finally here, Deep Street Soul vinyl has arrived and 112’s Slim has a solo album. Soul Brother are proud to reissue the extremely rare and hard to find Madcliff album originally issued on Guinness in 1977, it covers a broad spectrum of Soul Funk and Disco. The Cd is now in stock and the limited edition 180gm LP will be arriving next week, pre-order your copy now.Check out the Madcliff video here.

Reissues

There are loads of quality reissues this week ,especially good on the Jazz side with a great un released Vinyl only album from UK Trumpeter Harry Beckett ‘Still Happy’ was recorded for the BBC in 1974. There are classics on Vinyl from Herbie Hancock, Nina Simone, Freddie Hubbard, Miles Davis and more pljus good Cds from Cannnonball Adderley, Elvin Jones and a great Afro beat album from Ebo Taylor on CD and vinyl.

Lonnie Liston Smith In Store!

I do hope that you can join us next Friday 27th May at 2pm to meet the legend Lonnie Liston Smith who will be here to meet and greet and sign albums and Cds. Lonnie is in the Uk performing on a double bill with Roy Ayers at the Forum on Sat 28th, tickets are still available.

Pre-orders

Pre-order for next week for the Louie Vega LP vol 1 which is in transit to us now, all existing orders will be fulfilled and we will have a limited amount of stock for new orders so please secure your copy now as this will most likely sell out very quickly. The Madcliff LP, plus great new albums from Martha High and Manchester jazz group Mammal Hands ft the Gondwana Orchestra
will also be in next week, plus a couple of 45’s on Expansion featuring artists appearing at the Blackpool Soul Festival. There will be more to add early next week. Also looking further ahead pre-order the Zed Soul 45 ‘Papa You Are My Hero’ which we are offering exclusively in the run up to Fathers Day 19th June.

Doggett Brothers lookback

A big thank you for everybody who came to the Doggett Brothers in store last Saturday, which was a nice event. Guests included Leon Ware collaborator and songwriter Ron Roker. You can see the pictures here. We still have a few signed copies of their album ‘Colours’ which you can order here and regular copies here.

Remaining RSD stock

We still have many of the Soul ,Funk Jazz and Reggae RSD titles in stock which you can view here, but we are running very low on many of these now. (we are likely to sell out very soon of both the Eleanore Mills and Eramus Hall 180 Lps plus 45’s ).
We have just had a few more copies of the brilliant Arena album back in so if you missed it grab a copy now. The James Brown revue LP will be in on 3rd June which you can pre-order here.
