New releases and pre-orders – 6th May 2016

New releases

Gregory Porter triumphantly returns with his forth album ‘Take Me To The Alley’ it includes two barnstormers ‘Fan The Flames’ and ‘French African Queen’ and many other nice tracks. It is in stock and available on CD/Deluxe CD with bonus tracks and DVD and Double LP.
The Doggett Brothers have a really good second album ‘Colors’ featuring Kenny Thomas, Laura Jackson etc. You can meet The Brothers at Soul Brother Records store next Saturday 14th May – see below.
Veteran Gospel/Funk group The Relatives have a really good album ‘Goodbye World’ on CD/LP. Lack Of Afro gives us another slab of their brand of Funk. Pat Metheny returns with a double Cd of his Unity Sessions and Dee Dee Bridgewater ‘Dee Dee’s Feathers’ is now out on LP.

Reissues

There is a lot of great reissues this week. The Independents made some great recordings for the Wand label in the early 70’s which are pulled together on a superb CD collection ‘Just as long’ .
Kent also really hit home with a brilliant compilation CD ‘Mainstream Modern Soul’ featuring some excellent 70’s Modern soul sides from the Mainstream, IX Chains and Brown Dog labels which is an essential purchase.
Athens of the North have uncovered a third previously un issued album by Rasputins Stash ‘Hidden Stash which reveals some really nice tracks. The Trammps 111 gets a expanded remastered CD edition on BBR. There are also some great vinyl reissues this week, The PMG label from Germany have brought out a great series of rare albums including the superb spiritual jazz  Dadisi Komolafe ‘Hassans Walk’, both Niagara albums, Ray Camacho band latino funk, and Steve Black Afro funk ‘Village Boogie’. There are many great classic 180gm vinyl albums on the music on vinyl label. There are a few unumbered dinked copies of our Dee Edwards RSD ‘Deal with that’ 45 available, so if you missed the limited edition one grab one now. Eramus Hall ‘s two classic sides are now on a limited pressing 45.

Back In Stock

We have a few copies back in stock of the Gloria Ann Taylor LP plus copies of the elusive Mr Wigg and Scott Cunningham Band 45’s, all previous orders that have been awaiting stock will be shipped today.

Eleanor Mills bonus 45 now in

The correctly pressed bonus 45 with the Eleanore Mills RSD LP is now in and copies are being swapped over and we should be able to ship all orders today.

Pre-orders

Pre-order for the next couple of weeks new albums from Corrine Bailey Rae Cd and LP, Tomoshi Nakamura Cd , Keke Wyatt Cd and Ryle 45 on Sundae Soul, plus our next release the rare Madcliff album originally issued on Guinness in 1977 coming on CD and 180gm LP. Also pre-orders taken for the great teddy douglas /marcell russell retro soul cd.

Record Store Day releases

We still have many of the Soul ,jazz and Reggae RSD limited edition releases in stock but many are now running low, so please check the list here to grab the titles you want before they are sold out.
There were many really good records for RSD this year, so please look again to see if you missed any of the gems.

You can meet The Doggett Brothers at Soul Brother Records store next Saturday 14th May at 2pm when they will be signing copies of the album.

We are delighted to welcome Lonnie Liston Smith to Soul Brother Records on Friday 27th  May at 2pm. Lonnie who is playing at The Forum on 28th with Roy Ayers will be in the store meeting you and signing his albums and CDs. He is one of the legends of our music and a really nice guy, I hope that many of you can come and meet him.
