New releases

Norah Jones returns to her Jazz roots with an album in the style of her debut from 2002. It is available as a regular CD, LP and a limited edition Deluxe Cd with four bonus live cuts. The Jacob Collier and Miles Davis soundtrack albums are now available on Vinyl.

Reissues and compilations

Edwin Birdsong’s Philadelphia album is on CD with bonus cuts, and there is a good Definitive Grover Washington Jr double CD covering his total career. There are 4 Legacy of 3 CD sets from Sony offering great value and some un issued versions/mixes of classic Soul,Funk and Disco cuts. There are Double Vinyl sets on three of them.94 East ft Prince is one of the Minneapolis genius first tracks, and there’s a little known Disco Modern Soul 45 on Expansion from Gordon Grody.

Pre-orders

We are taking pre-order for some good new releases including a copy of very limited edition 45’s from Africano (great double sider) and an unreleased Arnold Blair track produced by LeRoy Hutson both due later in October, we recommend pre-ordering these as they are likely to sell out fast. Our Mark Murphy anthology has been well received on CD and Vinyl will be arriving in the next week or so. See all pre-orders here
Check out these lists of Original Vinyl Funk LP’s and Original Vinyl Soul LP’s which include some great titles. All of these are one off’s so please order early to avoid disappointment. Watch out for a Jazz and Jazz Funk titles next week. These lists just show a small amount of the Vinyl that you can now browse in our shop with our extended vinyl rack which you can see in the picture above.

R.I.P Rod Temperton

We are sad to learn of the passing of Rod Temperton one of the most successful songwriters in Soul music history, and founder member of Heatwave. Malcolm has written a tribute which you can read here.

Carmen Lundy live!

Finally Carmen Lundy is back in London at Pizza Express Jazz Club 28th/29th October, her last shows there 2 years ago were among the best that i have witnessed in 40+ years of going to soul and Jazz gigs, if you missed her last time do yourself a favour and book now so you don’t miss out this this time. For customers further away she is also playing in Dublin, Paris and Milan. We will be selling cds at the London gigs and hope to have some signed copies to sell afterwards.
