The New Mastersounds have a strong Funky Jazz album , Far out Monster Disco orchestra a strong modern disco album, Dave Liebman and Martti Vesela have good jazz set. There are also some good albums on vinyl from WVR Bvby, Bunky Leo and classic reissues from Bernard Wright, Logg, Harry Whitaker and Sons and Daughters of Light.

Great 12″ singles from Circle City band, George Duke, Gallifre plus 45’s from Skullsnaps, Scacy Sound Service, Soul Brothers Six, Poniters Sisters and Prince Phillip Mitchell.

Tomorrow Sat 21st April is Record Store Day , the one day of the year that focuses on independent record shops like Soul Brother Records.

This is the 10th year that we have celebrated Record store day. I look forward to welcoming as many of you to our store on Saturday to enjoy the great vibe of the day, see the our recently extended store and our new 45’s display area.

There are over 500 exclusive limited edition vinyl releases being released on the day. We will be stocking over 350 titles including many import titles not on the UK list, the largest number we have ever carried on the day.

We have good stocks of many of the Soul Jazz reggae and World/Blues titles, and many of the more general music titles, but some of the titles are very limited so are likely to sell out early.  Everything is sold on a first come first served basis and we are not allowed by RSD rules to reserve stock.

We have two very special releases on our own label Jarrod Lawson seminal self titled debut album and Mary Clark rare 45 ‘Take me I’m yours/your love got a hold on me’ , which you can see videos of (Jarrod)  here  and Mary here

To help you decide which titles to go for we have picked out our top 20 recommended titles for each of these five music categories,  Soul & Funk, Jazz Blues and World, Reggae and Hip Hop, Soundtracks and Rock & Pop, which you can view here.

We will of course be playing some of these in the store on the day.

Even if the exclusive releases are not of interest to you, we welcome you to the store on Saturday to celebrate the day and the store, but would suggest you come in the afternoon when it won’t be so busy.

On Saturday morning we open early at 8am, but there will be a queue from much earlier. We have 20 Fred Perry RSD tote bags to give to the first 20 people in the queue.
