There are some good new releases, reissues and restocks this week. First up we have a nice retro soul album from Dutch group The Tibbs, a new Jazz groove Ep from Niji and a direct to tape live Abdullah Ibrahim 3lp/2cd set recorded at the Barbican. Grupo Irakere have a great reissue in Mr Bongo, Arc have a Roberta Flack unreleased lost tapes LP, and Ace a comp of Calvin Arnold, and the AAA mastered edition of Gil Scott Heron ‘Free Will’.. There are 4 new Fela Kuti vinyl reissues and a rare Terumasu Hino LP. There’s a new 45 from Coast To Coast and an unreleased Isley Brothers Motown side, plus a batch of Japanese Soul and Funk CDs, most of which are one -offs. We are back in stock of some great albums on vinyl including Bataan , Bobbi Humphrey, Ahmad Jamal, Minnie Riperton, Wes Montgomery and Stan Getz.
Some of you may have seen our feature in appreciation of Marlena Shaw who died at 81 last Friday. We were obviously very saddened to hear of her passing, she was a very special talent and responsible for some of the finest music in soul, jazz and beyond.
