There are loads of great releases this week. First up we finally have the long awaited Cleo Sol ‘Gold’ album on both LP and CD, a really nice new soul album but sadly likely to disappear fast, so grab your copy while you can. We have a very few more copies of Will Downing ‘Soul Rising’ LPs plus CDs. Brenda Lee Eager superb ‘When I’m With You’ is the rarest Mizell production and is available as a regular dinked or limited edition DJ Copy whilst stocks last. Jackie Ross ‘A new beginning’ from 1980 was overlooked at the time but now in demand and now available on Japanese LP and CD along with a collection of recordings she made with Southside Movement, all in limited quantity.
O’Donel Levy ‘Simba’ is a great Jazz-Funk album originally issued on Groove Merchant and now reissued on Mr Bongo. Lonnie Lston Smith ‘Live’ is given a high quality LP reissue on BGP and music on vinyl have some great reissues of Freddie Hubbard classic ‘Red Clay’, Deodato and Weather Report all on limited coloured vinyl.
Sam records were one of the best New York Disco labels and all their great recordings are compiled on an anthology on LP or CD. Earl Young was the drummer on many Philly and Salsoul classics which are compiled on ‘Groove Machine’ also available on CD.
There are some nice 45’s on Kent, and we are back in stock of the Sisters Love and GC Cameron 45s on Soul Brother. We are also back in stock of many great Soul, Funk, Jazz and Blues classic LPs.
Pre-order for a new Cornell C.C.Carter 45 out on Monday and for a new CD from Ledisi and unreleased 70’s album from Doris Troy both due on 15th March. There is also Cleo Sol’s other album ‘Heaven’ plus some rare 70s soul albums that are due next week. See all pre-order titles here.
Saturday 20th April is record store day and the list of titles has just been published, which you can view here. We will aim to stock most of the Soul, Jazz, Reggae etc titles and some of the more general releases, if there is anything you would like us to stock please let us know before the end of February so that we can order from suppliers, baring in mind that titles will be sold on first come first served basis on the day in accordance with the rules.
