New arrivals – recommended new releases 23rd October 2015

New releases Matthew Halsall has made an amazing new Jazz album 'Into Forever' out on Cd earlier in the month and now in on Vinyl, superb and essential listening. Fellow Manchester Jazzman Nat Birchall also makes one of his best albums 'Invocations' just arrived on CD and LP. Ropeadope have three new Jazz CD's, Jesse Fischer, Big Picture Holiday and Snarky Puppy percussionists 'Ghost-Note', great stuff check them out. Hot 8 Brass Band (check their version of Papa was a rolling stone) Bob Mintzer Big Band and two from Nelson Rangell (Blue on Flute, Red on Sax) completes a great week...

Recommended new releases – 9th October 2015

The return of St Germain St Germain return 15 years after their incredibly popular 'Tourist' album with an African influenced House album 'St Germain', quite strange in places but captivating, check it out. The rest of the new releases Kyoto Jazz Sextet have an amazingly good Japanese jazz album , mainly Blue note covers but really good. Arriving early next week are good albums from Venue Connection and Soulpersona. New releases It is probably the biggest week for new releases of the year so far. There are only a few releases this week, after the incredible volume from last week. The beautiful Lizz Wright makes her 5th album at the soulful end of Jazz vocals, Tony Leo is a new name to us but his album S.E.V.E.N is well worth checking out, the and critically acclaimed Jazz vocalist Cecile McLorin Salvant returns with a new album. New releases There are some strong albums this week. Foreign Exchange return with another good set of slightly leftfield Soul,Teedra Moses has a good R&B Soul, there's a really good Jazz/Soul comp from Tony Minvielle and some good smooth Jazz from Four80East and Lebron.
