New releases

Ropeadope have three great new albums arriving this week. Terrace martin needs no introduction to us having produced one of the best albums of 2016 in Velvet Portraits. Terrace Returns with his band The Pollyseeds to produce what could well be one of the best albums of 2017, ‘Sounds of Crenshaw vol 1’ ft Robert Glasper, Rose Gold Released on 14th July. Trevor Lawrence Jr ‘Relationships’ is another great album on the label released 21st July. This master drummer has made what will be another album of the year great jazz and soul including a killer jazz funk belter. Christian Scott makes the second of his trilogy of albums this year ‘Diaspora and maybe the most accessible so far from the innovative Trumpeter.

Goldie is Mr Drum and Bass but his new album ‘The Journey Man’ has a very jazzy feel and features Jose James. Soul Understated feature the unique vocals of Mavis Swan Poole and their 6 track Ep of old school soul is well worth checking. Yolanda brown and Jackiem Joyner also have good albums this week.

Outta Sight have excelled again with Soul on the Realside vol 7 a superb collection of 20 Modern Soul classics from the 70’s. There is a great 2CD set Anthology of Harvey Mason’s Arista recordings. The Stylistics first 5 albums are collected on 5 Classic albums. There are a couple of Outta Sight Vinyl LP’s as well.
