New releases and pre-orders 31st of August 2018

Pride of place this week goes to 77 year old Willie Hightower who along with 95 year old producer Quinton Claunch has crafted a stunning new album of Southern Soul with a core of high class Muscle Shoals musicians. The results are incredible: a timeless 10 track set that oozes quality. Have a listen to the clips.

Ace complete a hat-trick of top end releases with the second and final volume of Jack Ashford’s productions and an extended version of the Spinners’ 2nd Motown album along with a grip of bonus and unreleased tracks.

Jazz legend Bob James brings us a new, long awaited album that will delight his fans while British baritone saxophonist Tony Kofi delivers a fine Hammond organ driven set in the best Blue Note/ Prestige tradition.

On the reissue side Silvia Striplin’s classic ‘Give Me Your Love’ album is out on CD and LP (vinyl will be later this month, pre-order yours now) while the critically acclaimed Uno Melodic compilation (featuring Striplin and more) gets a vinyl issue, too. The rare Peter/Patricia Brown (of P&P Records fame) NY soulful disco banger Hi Fidelity is out, Garfield Fleming’s mini LP finally lands and the double 7″ Leo’s Sunshipp collection pulls together 4 of the best tracks from their album. UK club/rare groove classic ‘Trip To Your Mind’ will stir memories and there are reissue 12s from Vitamin E and New Birth. For house fans the early 90s offering from Mood II Swing will be a welcome addition while Kaidi Tatham’s 12 Senses collaboration is a class slab of jazzy new beat.
