Pharoah Sanders recorded his 'Pharoah' album in 1977 on the India Navigation label when he was in between contracts between the Impulse and Arista labels. It has become the rarest and most sought after of his albums, with original mint copies selling for up to £1000. It has a very intimate arrangement and Pharoah is more controlled in his playing than on his earlier Impulse albums.
